How To Plan Your MCA Oral Prep

Long before you begin studying for your MCA oral exam, you need to get to grips with what you need to learn. Getting a good structure in place for your revision is always key. So, where do you start?

Step 1 – Use the oral exam syllabus to create a road map

Understanding the syllabus is an essential foundational step that can significantly influence your strategy and ultimate success. The syllabus serves as a roadmap, guiding you through the specific topics that will be assessed.

By grasping the scope of the syllabus, you can tailor your study plan to align with the MCA oral exam’s requirements, ensuring that no crucial area is overlooked and no unnecessary time is wasted on irrelevant subjects. So, start with your syllabus and break it down on an excel sheet or in a brainstorm-style diagram so that you can see what you’re up against.

Step 2 – Assess your strengths and weaknesses

Then start going through it and figure out the areas where you’re stronger and weaker, and make notes. Assessing your own strengths and weaknesses is vital as it provides a structured framework for focused self-evaluation.

This approach ensures you use your study time efficiently and it also boosts your confidence, minimises stress and gives you a much better chance of achieving a pass.

Step 3 – Use our free MCA oral exam reports

Then use the oral reports that we make freely available to everyone via our Facebook groups or the Free Resources page of our website. Use them to start to figure out how likely certain subjects are to come up and how deep the examiners tend to go on the subject. There’s more guidance on how to use oral reports here.

These are important steps to help you put in place the right structure to prepare for your MCA oral exam. Taking time to plan may feel like a distraction but it’s critical and will help you manage your time, stress and expectations.

We would suggest that you are working hard at it from about four to five weeks before your exam and probably double that if you’re trying to work at the same time. Just remember, you are not alone and we’re always just one call away to support you in whatever way you need with our comprehensive Path to Pass System. It combines up-to-date eLearning resources, friendly small-group sessions and flexible private sessions for both Deck and Engine candidates.
