MCA Mock Oral Exams: Your Secret Weapon
You’ve been preparing for your MCA oral exam for months. You’ve done it all; individual studying, group sessions, eLearning, you name it. So why should you think of adding mock orals on top of that?
Think of a mock test as a trial run for the real deal. It’s a practice round where you go through the motions of the actual test: same format, same syllabus. Yet, your certification is not on the line, which is great news!
Building in time to do some mock exams with unfamiliar faces is the vital last step in building a resilient, confident candidate.
Consolidate Your Knowledge
Why should you do one or more mock exams ahead of the big day? Well, it’s like a sneak peek into what’s coming. Doing these mock exams helps you figure out what you’re good at and what needs work, as well as building your confidence with verbalising your knowledge in a realistic environment.
Practicing verbalising is like training any muscle. When you repeat your answers, your brain creates stronger connections related to that information. Each time you practice, those neural pathways get reinforced, making the information easier to recall and use.
Polish Your Presentation
You should know that your MCA oral exam is as much about the actual knowledge as it is about having the confidence to relay that information to the Examiner. Mock orals offer you the opportunity to finesse the delivery of your answers and present the information in a way that completely satisfies your Examiner, without digging too many holes in the process.
Increase Your Confidence
Consistent practice not only solidifies what you’ve learned but also helps in retaining it for the long haul. Plus, practice is a confidence booster; you get a sense of what the oral exam will be like, calm those pre-exam jitters and fine-tune your game plan. It’s all about being ready and feeling more in control for the real thing.
So How Does It Work With Whitehorse?
During a mock oral session with us, we normally dedicate about three quarters to the examination itself and the remaining quarter to a thorough debrief. You’ll receive tangible feedback that will help you improve on any weak spots in knowledge and/or presentation for your MCA Oral Exam.
We recommend starting to do mock exams in the 7-10 days before your exam, with the last one around 2-3 days before. It’s really best not to leave your mock exams too late, otherwise there may not be enough time to make changes before the real thing.
If you’re looking to do more than one (as is recommended), Whitehorse has a large team of tutors which means that you can benefit from different perspectives, styles and questions, all of which builds resilience for the real exam, without risking different interpretations confusing you at the last minute.
If you’re looking to book a mock exam, you can do so up to three weeks ahead via our booking system for Deck and Engine candidates. If you’re looking further ahead, or just want to chat through some options, please get in touch.
We’re here to help.
