A great platform. All tutors are extremely knowledgeable and they only have a max of six in each clinic which means you get time to answer and ask questions. It was really easy to book private lessons with master mariners and all were extremely knowledgeable. I recommend Whitehorse and look forward to using them again in the future!

Our Path to Pass System combines three core preparation tools; comprehensive eLearning, weekly small-group clinics and private sessions with experienced tutors. It gives you structure without locking you into a rigid college-style course.
Most candidates benefit from starting slowly around two to three months before and ramping up as they get closer to the oral exam. A common route is to start with eLearning, then add small-group clinics for four to six weeks before the oral, followed by private sessions and mock oral practice in the final few weeks.
This gives you time to build knowledge properly, identify weak areas and add speaking practice before the final stages of preparation.
If your exam is sooner than that, don't worry; we can still build a custom prep plan to get you in the best possible position to pass in the time available.
The best preparation strategy combines knowledge-building with speaking practice. eLearning helps you build the foundation, clinics help you practise answering in a friendly small-group setting and private sessions or mock orals help you target weak areas and polish your answers.
The right mix depends on your ticket, experience, exam date, confidence and budget. Some candidates follow the full Path to Pass System, while others use Whitehorse for targeted help.
Yes. We do not give every candidate the same fixed study plan because we understand that every candidate starts from a different place. Instead, we help you build your own study plan based on your syllabus timeline, experience and weaker areas.
Most candidates prefer the structure of complete preparation package, but it's absolutely fine if you only need help with specific weak areas or just want a final mock oral before the exam.
The full route works well if you want structure from start to finish. If you have already done significant preparation elsewhere, private sessions for mock oral practice may be enough. If you are unsure, contact us and we can recommend a sensible plan.
Our clinics are friendly, mock-style Q&A sessions with a maximum of six candidates. They are designed to help you practise speaking, identify weak areas and get used to answering exam-style questions.
You do not need to attend every clinic but attending regularly in the weeks before your oral can make a big difference. The oral exam should not be the first time you properly explain these subjects out loud.
Most candidates add private sessions in the final three to four weeks before the oral, although you can start earlier if you need more help.
The first session is usually a gentle mock exam to assess your current level, identify weak areas and adjust your prep plan for the remaining time before the exam.
As the exam gets closer, sessions can be tutorials on tricky subjects or focus on more mock-style questioning so that you practise giving clear, structured answers under pressure.
Yes, of course. Some candidates only need a mock oral or a small number of private sessions, especially if they have already prepared elsewhere.
However, our advice would be to avoid leaving your first mock to the last few days before your exam. Aiming for around 7-10 days before is wise, to give you time to polish any weak areas.
